St Albans
Parking in St Albans
Named after the first British saint, St Albans has been a key strategic location from Celtic times onwards. It is probably best known for its importance during the Roman occupation, when it was renamed Verulamium, which in the native Celtic language means ‘Settlement by the Marsh’. Today, it’s a busy market town that’s also a popular commuter town for London. Parking in St Albans can be a challenge, so the centrally located NCP St Albans car parks are a real benefit for visitors and regular users alike.
Points of interest
Look anywhere in St Albans and you’ll see the ghosts of ancient Rome. The Roman Theatre of Verulamium, which is opposite the museum, is a well preserved remain that demonstrates how wealthy St Albans was during the Roman period. The city has its quirky aspects too, with a delightful organ museum with working pub organs. Bringing us right up to date is the de Havilland Aircraft museum in London Colney, just a few miles from the centre of the city. For all central attractions, park at any one of St Albans’ nine NCP car parks, including pre-bookable spaces at Drover’s Way and Russell Avenue.
